INTERIEURCHARMEUR ARTWORKS
Rotterdam based interior architect and designer Interieur Charmeur started several years ago with small interior architecture projects and renovating and selling vintage furniture and decoration. This created a need for suitable and affordable wall art matching the interior projects. This was the start of the lifelong dream of not only creating interiors but also creating our own products.
Our mission is to complete beautiful interiors with our affordable timeless art in a sustainable way.
Our first collections are inspired on our personal preference in architecture movements and design styles. We have used our architecture and design education as an inspiration to create modern interpretations of these historic styles. All collections are described below giving you an insight in our creative process and inspirations.
The artworks are handmade and there is a limited availability. The artwork is carved by hand and finished with our own color mixtures with natural ingredients. The art pieces come in a handmade natural oak frame, harvested in sustainable maintained forests. We continue to optimize the sustainability of all our ingredients.
BAUHAUS VELUWE COLLECTION
The Bauhaus Veluwe collection, which is our first collection, is inspired by the design fundaments of the Bauhaus movement. The shapes and composition are mainly primary shapes interacting within the canvas. Creating an interesting composition and shades caused by the depth variations. The intensity of the shades in the artworks change over time caused by the intensity of light during the day. All works are finished with a structured paint using natural materials of the Veluwe.
The first three works of this collection come in primary colors, each work has its own color complementing the shapes, in line with the Bauhaus vision. We chose to soften the intensity of the colors, so the artworks fit better in modern interiors. The unique artworks are produced in limited amounts so have a look in our SHOP and purchase your favorite piece.
Bauhaus
A German architect Walter Gropius created the Bauhaus in Weimar in 1919, from the merger of the Grand Ducal Saxonian School of Arts and Crafts and the Grand Ducal Saxonian School of Arts. He made himself a director of the newly created school for art and design, writing the Bauhaus Manifesto of the newborn movement. The aim was to bring architecture, sculpture, and painting back to the craftsmanship. Bauhaus challenged the conventions of fine art, architecture and design by advocating a return to individual craftsmanship. Rejecting the flowers and frills of the early twentieth century, and sought solutions that were simple, rational, and functional.
BORING MEMPHIS COLLECTION
Our second collection is based on one of our favorite design movements, The Memphis Group. This crazy colorful design and architecture style, also know as Memphis Milano was founded by Ettore Sottsass and active in the ‘80s. We foresee a revival of this movement in fashion, art and design but in a more subtle way. The postmodern design style can be recognized by the use of bright colors, patterns placed on expressive geometrical shapes. In honor if this daring movement we created our own modern interpretation collection based on the composition of these shapes.
Although we celebrate color in our lives we do feel it can be a lot for some interiors. Therefore we use our own Boring Grey to compensate the expressive compositions. This color is inspired by the Boring Collections of office furniture producer Lensvelt. This collection combines the expressive shapes with a modest color, creating interesting artworks, artwork #1 and #2 can be combined visually.

MODEST MODERN COLLECTION
The Modest Modern collection is a contemporary collection based on simple graphical shapes and lines. The artworks created by a modest combination of shapes and colors. By using only a few graphic elements in every work a peaceful yet stimulating work is made. Which allows these works to fit in every interior complementing the existing interior and objects. The design is based on modern architecture combined with a hint of brutalism.
At first sight the works will appear as a combination of geometrical elements. When allowing yourself to really have a better look you may come to surprisingly interesting conclusions. As the works represent an abstract interpretation of real-life object. This is for you to discover!
For this collection a set of natural colors was made in order to really let the shapes come out the best possible way. The combination of the modest colors and the natural texture results in warm and pleasing artworks.
